Learning Magic has been approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Supplemental Provider of Tutoring Services under the No Child Left Behind Act. In 2002, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed into law. Most importantly, NCLB requires struggling schools to provide low-income students with the opportunity to obtain FREE supplemental education services (SES) namely tutoring and academic enrichment programs. The federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires states to ensure that districts and providers of supplemental education services (SES) adhere to certain parameters in the designing and delivery of their services.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) 1. How much does the tutoring cost? Tutoring is FREE!!!!! 2. As a parent, how do I know if my child is eligible? School districts are required to notify parents. 3. What are Supplemental Educational Services? Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are FREE additional academic instruction designed to increase academic achievement in schools that have not met State targets for increasing academic achievement (adequate yearly progress) for three or more years. These services include tutoring and after-school services. 4. Who is eligible to recieve these services? Students from low-income families who remain in Title I schools that fail to meet state standards for at least three years. 5. Can parents choose providers for tutoring and services? Yes, parents can choose from a list of state-approved providers. 6. Are those providers held accountable? Yes. States develop and apply objective criteria for evaluating and monitoring the quality of services they offer. 7. How do I get started? Call your principal and inform him or her that you would like Learning Magic to provide the SES tutoring for your child. 8. Are the instructors certified, trained, and safe to be with my child? Yes, all tutors are trained or certified in their field. All tutors have passed a CORI check. 9. What do you do for my individual child? We assess each child prior to beginning to develop a specific program tailored to your child. We use research-based programs which are results-oriented.
